The “Camp” in Camp Fortune.

1920-2020 Celebrating 100 years of Camp Fortune.

The “Camp” in Camp Fortune.

All of us at Camp Fortune are really excited for this season as we celebrate 100 years of skiing at Camp Fortune in 2020. We want to share our history with you all and will be posting throughout the year. We also invite all of you to share your memories and stories with us.

Over the years we have received a lot of questions about the name Camp Fortune so we figured this would be the perfect place to start.

Our history is intertwined with that of the Ottawa Ski Club, who celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2010. In 1920 the Ottawa Ski Club purchased Garrett Fortune’s woodsman’s camp near Fortune Lake and Fortune hill. The camp building served as the club’s first lodge and thus began the development of skiing at Camp Fortune.

That modest camp dating back to 1920 is where the name Camp Fortune comes from.

Here are some photos from the final weekend of the 2021-2022 ski season.

Camp Fortune Academy

We want to take a moment to thank all of our ski and snowboard instructors for joining us this season, it was great to be back on snow! Congratulations to our stars and award winners who were honoured for their hard work and dedication.

Mountain Coaster

The Camp Fortune team celebrated the installation of the Mountain Pipe Coaster and tested this exciting new ride. We are now open to the public!

Merci.

Please note our lodge expansion and zipline installation projects are well underway so parts of our site are currently a construction zone. We apologize for the inconvenience, but are excited about these projects! We are asking all users and visitors to please park in the “upper” parking lots aways from the construction zone. Thank you.

Due to the violent storms, winds and power outage, we must exceptionally close the aerial park, mountain coaster and mountain bike trails this Sunday, May 22 for the safety of our customers as we complete an inspection of the grounds, trails and courses. Customers with a reservations or tickets this Sunday will be able to change the visit date and will be contacted as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
