Lift serviced downhill update June 25 2019

Hi all, as promised in another thread here is a lift serviced downhill update.

In a nutshell the update is not much has changed since the last update posted on June 10. Work continues, you won’t see the team at the lift this week as work is being done remotely in a shop. We are also waiting on a few parts. We will soon continue up the lift working on the more remote towers. Hopefully all goes well and we don’t discover anymore surprises. As we say in the winter, “skis crossed” for an August DH season through the fall colours. We appreciate your patience with this very long, very delayed, very frustrating project.

June 10: Dear downhill mountain bikers :

We hope to offer a downhill season but we are delayed again. We have major work to do on the Skyline chair. The parts were so delayed last season we never got to complete the repairs. We have been working on the lift since the ski season ended in April. As you can imagine with any mechanical equipment when you get into the job you find others things to fix. We now have to order more parts for additional repairs. This means our target of opening for DH in mid July may be pushed to August. We are 100% committed to this exhaustive maintenance on the Skyline chair. Once it is completed, we do want to open for DH and offer lift serviced DH. We just don’t know exactly when that will be. We will keep you updated. This update was posted June 10 by Erin.

The gnarly, sloped mountain biking trails on Skyline are not for the faint of heart. Bikers get race-ready for the Ontario Cup DH and Quebec Cup DH on the Camp Fortune brand of downhill madness. Tune up your skills from 5 pm to dusk, Wednesday nights and from 11 am to 5 pm on weekends.

The downhill mountain bike trails at Camp Fortune undergo constant improvement. There are undulating trails for beginners, but most are best suited to intermediates and experts.

Now, you’re out of excuses. Get on your bike and get into summer on the Camp Fortune hills.
